I'm looking for a program or something like that. I'm going to shamelessly plagerious a different post. The post is:
Keep equipment number and serial number synchronous
I've searched a lot for some sort of answer and found that Mohan has the same issue. He explains it well, so I'm "Stealing" and giving credit to Mohan for his words. SO here is the issue:
"I have an issue for a materials where equipment & serial number are not synchronous. Serial numbers have been created & these serial numbers have different equipment numbers.
Now I need to make this serial numbers & equipment numbers in sync. I want to change data in "Plant data / stor. 2" ---- SerLevel to 1 in material master so that the serial number & equipment are in SYNC."
The problem is there is around 12 steps that need to be completed manually to get the equipment number and serial number in sync. Then to change the serialization level to 1. What I'm hoping is that someone has come up with a program to remove the manual steps. Most of the material master records do have a serialization level of 1, but some do not.
That's the problem and if you could point me to some information it would be great!

FYI - why would I want to do the above? I'm recording data at the time of MIGO. I want to maintain the link to the equipment master. However, it hasn't been created yet. I have found a great place to put an enhancement point and add my data to an internal equipment number table. This works perfectly when the serialization is 1. However, when it isn't 1, then the equipment master isn't automatically created the same way. So it would take some time to search for it. (That may be worth it depending on the answer.) Also the end result, my company really does want the equipment master and serial numbers in sync.
